About the Role 
We are a small, community‑focused farm on Haida Gwaii. Haida owned and operated, located in Tlaal/Tlell, with six under construction greenhouses and several outdoor growing areas. Our farm does not include livestock or irrigation systems; instead, we rely on hands‑on growing practices, soil stewardship, and climate‑adapted methods suited to Haida Gwaii’s coastal environment.

We will be growing vegetables, herbs, and specialty crops for local markets and food programs, with a focus on sustainability, ecological health, and supporting local food security.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, learning practical farm skills, and contributing to a small, supportive team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Greenhouse & Field Work 

  • Seeding, transplanting, and bed preparation
  • Manual watering and moisture monitoring (no automated irrigation)
  • Soil management, compost handling and mulching
  • Trellising, pruning, and plant care in greenhouse environments
  • Harvesting, washing, and packing produce for market
Farm Maintenance

  • General upkeep of greenhouse structures
  • Weeding and manual cultivation
  • Pathway maintenance and tool care 
  • Assisting with small repairs in seasonal setup/cleanup
Market & Community Support

  • Preparing produce for local sales
  • Occasional participation in community markets

Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for someone who brings some of the following (we encourage all interested applicants to apply—even if you don’t meet every bullet):

  • Previous farm, garden, greenhouse, or outdoor labour experience is an asset
  • Comfort working in coastal weather conditions
  • Basic tools and small equipment handling experience preferred
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Physically able to lift, bend, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Interest in sustainable agriculture or local food systems
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license is an asset
  • Preference will be given to Haida candidates as per Section 41 of the Human Rights Code.

What We Offer

  • Hourly rate: $24.02 - $24.99 based on experience.
  • Full-time (35-40 hrs./week), Seasonal

Compensation
