About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Operations Supervisor to lead and support our Haida Gwaii Watchmen crews. Reporting to the Haida Gwaii Watchmen Program Manager, you will coordinate field operations, oversee crew performance, ensure safety and compliance, and facilitate training programs. 
This full-time position is based in HlGaagilda – Skidegate and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the success of our field operations and the preservation of Haida Gwaii’s cultural and environmental resources.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate field crews, including recruitment, scheduling, and day-to-day communications.
  • Ensure field crew safety by implementing and maintaining safety protocols and effective communication systems.
  • Participate in fieldwork as needed and monitor work quality to meet organizational standards.
  • Oversee sign-in/sign-out of staff and equipment; maintain accurate activity and inventory logs.
  • Assess equipment needs and maintain an organized inventory of all field assets.
  • Develop and deliver training plans, including on-the-job coaching and classroom instruction.
  • Ensure camps are clean, organized, and fully equipped for field operations.
  • Coordinate safe transportation and maintain effective field communications.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and provide timely reports to management.
  • Address operational challenges such as staffing issues, equipment failures, and field disputes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Good people skills and proven capacity for respectful communication.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to employ effective decision making.
  • Knowledgeable in running and maintaining a camp with multiple employees.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
  • Wilderness Advanced First Aid
  • ROC-M
  • SVOP
  • SDV-BS (formerly MED-A3)
  • Food Safe
  • Chainsaw Safety
  • Bear Aware

What We Offer
  • Hourly rate: $26.82 - $30.17 based on experience.
  • Full-time (35–40 hrs/week) with paid time off, including an additional 2 week office closure during the winter break.

Compensation

$26.82 - $30.17 per hour
