Description
The Citizenship Assistant provides administrative support to the Citizenship Program, and processes related to citizenship. Supervised by the Citizenship Manager, they work with the Citizenship Table, Hereditary Chiefs Council, and citizens to apply the Citizenship Act. The Citizenship Assistant is a key role in ensuring the registry is well maintained and up-to-date. While data heavy, there are many opportunities to learn about clans, clan structures, and Haida history. The traditional and cultural knowledge in this role is pivotal and is held in high regard.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer the process for tracking, updating, and registering citizens to clan trees and citizenship databases.
- Assist with clan meetings to review accurate information and timely updating of clan trees.
- Provide clerical support to the manager and tables as required.
- Support community engagements with Haida citizens in all regions.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold privacy standards in handling sensitive information.
- Develop, maintain, and edit agendas, action trackers, and meeting minutes.
- Work collaboratively with staff.
- Ensure timely written verbal reports.
- Ensure the integrity of the Haida Citizenship Register is always maintained.
- Understanding of Haida Nation Social and governance structure.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Excellent communication and research skills, including strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Understanding of Office 365 and AIS Indigenous Communities Administration Software (or willingness to learn).
- Keen interest in Haida culture, politics, governance, and social structures.
- Proven attention to detail, organizational skills and maintaining confidentiality.
- Must be willing to travel and attend public events as required.
$26.82 - $30.17 per hour based on experience, Full-time 35-40 hrs. per week
