About the Role
The Archaeology Monitor is responsible for monitoring ground disturbance projects for Archaeological evidence and implementation of policies related to artifacts and human remains. In addition, under the supervision of the Archaeologist, they will assist in projects, report writing, and other work related to advancing the protection of archaeological material and knowledge related to Haida history and culture.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide Archeological monitoring services to outside agencies, individuals and business who are required to do so.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of an archeological inventory, resource library and registry.
- Partakes in continual training to develop skills and capacity.
- Maintain current knowledge based on Haida policies and procedures in relation to the process of securing archeological knowledge and material.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of High school graduation, with some post-secondary education is an asset.
- Experience in field work and able to travel throughout Haida Gwaii.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
- Keen interest and knowledge base in Haida history and place related knowledge.
- Experience working with First Nations and knowledge of First Nations communities and culture.
- Physically capable of working in rough terrain.
- Knowledge of Haida Gwaii geography is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

- Hourly rate: $24.02 - $24.99 based on experience.

Compensation
$24.02 - $24.99 per hour
